Quashnet River Hike July 21st

The Rangers are going hiking, but everyone is welcome (Mom, Dad, sibling, next door neighbor, etc.). The Quashnet river hike is a short (ca. 2 mile) easy hike that we'll be using as a shake down hike for future outings. While this is more of a walk than a hike we would still prefer everyone to come attired appropriately.

Where: Heritage Christian Church
When: July 21st, 10am

Shoes: Boots with socks, shoes with leather uppers and strong sole, absolutely no sandals.
Pants: Long pants because of ticks.
Shirts: No shoes, no shirt, no service. Seriously, loose and long sleeved will protect your skin and keep you cooler.
Hats: Always. Baseball, bush hat, fedora whatever will keep the sun off your head and keep you cool (temperature, not Fonzie)
In your day pack:
1) Water, about a 1L/hr for adults on a hot day.
2) Sunscreen
3) Compass if you have one
4) Flashlight, just in case.
5) Whistle, first aid kit, reflector (mirror, etc.), extra socks, moleskin. All these will be in the leaders pack but it's a good idea to have your own if you have the item around the house.

The idea is to enjoy nature and teach the kids how to hike. We'll be going on longer hikes throughout the summer and this is really to get everyone ready, leaders included. If all you child has is a decent pair of shoes and a willing attitude he/she will have a blast.

Any question contact Commander Dan.
